SUNDERLAND have already begun planning for next month's Africa Cup of Nations, which could see at least three players away on international duty, writes JAMES HUNTER.

Ivory Coast defender Lamine Kone, Gabon midfielder Didier Ndong, and Tunisian forward Wahbi Khazri, are all likely to be called up by their national teams for the competition which will be hosted by Gabon and runs from January 14 until February 4. Senegal defender Papy Djilobodji also has an outside chance of a callup, although he has not played for his country for more than 18 months.

Kone, Ndong, and Djilobodji are mainstays of the Sunderland side, while Khazri has also figured in more than half of the club's Premier League games, and that has forced Moyes to plan ahead.

He has been poring over the tournament schedule and trying to work out how far his players' teams might go in the competition, and therefore how long they are likely to be away.
