ATHLETICS: Olympic pole vaulter Alana Boyd has had a hectic couple of months.

Not only has she recently tied the knot, but the former Australian champion has been busy making the transition from star athlete to career woman.

Boyd was in Gympie last week as part of her role as a Your Local Fruit Shop ambassador, a brand that promotes independent green grocers.

A perfect choice for the role, the Olympic star said her transformation from athlete to everyday person had been a relatively easy one.

"There has been a bit of a transition, but at the same time I haven't been bored," she said.

"I haven't got to the point where I am really missing it at the moment and I am still trying to keep very active and still training three to four times a week. …
