FROM SSI engineer to a turnover of millions selling hot tubs...

For a lot of former SSI workers, work has been hard to come by since the Redcar plant was liquidated in 2015.

But business is already buoyant for former reliability engineer Dean Morley, who has completed a remarkable turnaround since being made redundant last October.

Dean founded HotPriceTubs in December 2015, just two months after losing his job.

Dean, 24, set up his hot tub business, which is based in Eaglescliffe, with his close friend Garon Sidhu.

Incredibly, the turnover for year one has been PS2.5m - and the company hopes to make PS6m next year.

Dean said: "I was at SSI right until the end. It was quite distressing and hard not to get affected by it.

"I had only been there for a year - things just went from bad to worse.

"When we started, we bought six hot tubs from China - we didn't even have a place to put them!

"We chose them because I had bought a tub two or three years ago. …
