Biden Signals 2020 Presidential Run

VICE-PRESIDENT Joe Biden has signalled he wants to run for the Democrats in the 2020 presidential election. The 74-year-old has been Barack Obama's second-in-command for his entire eight years in the White House and is considered tough competition for Donald Trump if the Republican billionaire seeks a second term.

It would be Mr Biden's third shot at the presidency and some on the Left believe he would appeal to workingclass voters won over by Presidentelect Trump's populist policies. Asked by a small group of American reporters yesterday if he would run for office again, Mr Biden said: "Yeah, I am. I am going to run in 2020."

When pressed on which position he would run for, he replied: "For president. And also, you know so, what the hell man, anyway." Asked if he was joking, he said: "I'm not committing not to run. I'm not committed to anything. I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening. …
