CHRISTMAS came early for a lucky woman from Middlesbrough when she scooped a new motor in a promotion organised by The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and Jennings Kia, part of the Jennings Motor Group.

They say things come in threes - and that's what happened to Kath Mewse, 69, from Eston, when she scooped a keg of beer, PS50 cash and the new Kia car, all in the space of a few days.

Kath, a department store worker, was one of thousands of people across the region who supported the Great North Air Ambulance Service by buying a raffle ticket for the charity's annual car raffle.

Kath, a long-term supporter of the charity, said: "I was gobsmacked when I received the phone call. At first I thought it was a joke, but then I realised it was genuine - it's all still sinking in!" The official presentation took place at Jennings Kia in Stockton, where Jennings Motor Group's managing director Nas Khan handed the key to an emotional Kath, with her husband, Malcolm, GNAAS aircrew paramedic Tim West, franchise manager Steven Flack and PA Bev Stephenson present. …
