Police Investigating Multiple Shooting on Northside; Authorities Seal off Block at North Myrtle, Moncrief Road

Jacksonville police were investigating a multiple shooting with possibly two people dead at separate locations Sunday night.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released no details as of 8:30 p.m. However, police had sealed off the 3500 block of North Myrtle Avenue at Moncrief Road where ambulances and police cars were parked outside Jacksonville Fire Station 18.

Meanwhile, police also sealed off the 51o0 block of Cleveland Road near the Cleveland Arms Apartments while they investigated a death.

North Myrtle Avenue neighbors said several injured people had been brought to the fire station sometime before 7 p.m.

One woman who drove up, told the Times-Union that a 17-year-old friend had been shot during a fight at Cleveland Arms Apartments.

"Only thing I know right now is that a fight occurred out there and she got shot. We're on the way to the hospital now, " Laquesha Francis said of her friend, who she didn't name.

Earlier in the evening, Twitter and Facebook accounts apparently from Jacksonville's fire department indicated that at least one person was dead on the scene and another was severely injured prompting a "trauma alert." The posts also said one of the people injured was a pediatric patient. But no details were given.

It said Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was on scene at North Myrtle Avenue due to "multiple gunshot wounds."
