What service does your group provide? Transportation of blood and urgent medical supplies.

Tell us about your history and how operate.

The charity was established in 2012 and began operational duty in February 2014. It is run solely by unpaid volunteers.

The charity currently has 590 volunteers covering all roles, and 12 of these are committee members.

Outside normal office hours, 365 days of the year, when their internal courier service is not available, hospitals have to rely on taxis or couriers to transfer urgent medical supplies or test samples between hospitals and other sites. Blood Bike groups, across the country, seek to carry out this service free of charge, ensuring the limited resources of the NHS can be used where it makes a difference.

We are the unseen emergency service.

What will you do with this year's Wish money? This year we plan to use any funds raised through Wish for fuel and other basic running costs to keep the vehicles on the road. …
