SUNDERLAND RCA are the only Ebac Northern League side definitely through to the FA Vase fifth round - but will be joined by either South Shields or Morpeth Town.

An incident-packed game before a bumper crowd of 1,545 at Mariners Park was abandoned with only nine minutes remaining because of a floodlight failure. Morpeth led 4-2. David Foley was an early marksman for the Mariners and after Sean Taylor levelled the Shieldsmen suffered a huge blow right on the stroke of half-time when Julio Arca was sent off after being shown a second yellow card.

Despite a numerical disadvantage, Michael Richardson fired the home side in front for a second time.

Gradually Morpeth made the numbers count and went 4-2 ahead courtesy of Michael Turner, Keith Graydon and Liam Henderson.

Just as the fourth goal reached the back of the net, the lights went out and it's almost certain the FA will order a replay.

Sunderland RCA eagerly await today's draw after producing a memorable performance in defeating AFC Mansfield 1-0. John Butler was the hero as he finished from close range on 37 minutes and although the home side pressed for an equaliser the Wearsiders' defence stood strong, with James Armstrong outstanding.

Billingham Town and Shildon both went out.

Andy Tylor and Brodie Robertson fired Cleethorpes Town into an early two-goal lead and although Chris Dickinson halved the deficit Billingham were unable to find an equaliser.

Following a goal-less first half, Amar Purewal gave Shildon the advantage but visitors Atherton Collieries launched a ferocious rally and four goals quickly flowed from Ben Hardcastle, Mark Battersby, Danny Lafferty and Jordan Cover.

North Shields extended their lead at the top of the ENL First Division to eight points when they hit Washington for six.

The Mechanics' defence was simply unable to control Lee Mason, who struck three times in the opening 16 minutes and ended with four goals to his credit. …
