A WOMAN was left "feeling sick and disgusted" after she was given "half eaten" food at a Wetherspoon pub.

Stephanie Archer was dining with a friend at Billingham's Half Moon Inn when her food was accidentally given to the wrong customer.

But instead of remaking her ham and cheese panini, the 33-year-old said staff just gave her the food which had already been partially eaten by the person who had wrongly been given the dish.

A Wetherspoon spokesman has since admitted the incident, but said that "a number of factors, out of the manager's control, led to the incident."

Stephanie, a mum-of-three, said: "I felt sick at the thought of them giving me food that had been half eaten.

"I'm disgusted." Explaining what had happened during her visit on Monday, Stephanie added: "I ordered, popped to the ladies and then when I returned there was an old man sat at our table eating what looked like my panini and chips.

"I didn't make a fuss and just went back to the bar to explain.

"The young man serving said he was going to check with the kitchen to see if it was, he walked up to the table and had a word with the old man, took the food away and moved him to the next table.

"Then within seconds my food was back on the table and he waved me over. I did think this was rather fast but just carried on.

"My chips weren't that warm but I ate the first half and a few chips. But when I bit into the second half of the panini, there was tomato sauce in it and I realised instantly what they had done."

Stephanie, a beautician, said staff admitted what had happened and that she was offered a full refund.

Stephanie "feeling sick "I had no interest in the refund," she said.

"In my eyes what they had done is a definite no-no.

"I have supported The Half Moon in since it opened and never had a bad experience until this one."

She added: "I was so disgusted and ill at the thought. I am still feeling ill now.

"It has put me off eating out for good."

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "We are fully aware of the incident archer was left and disgusted" at the pub which has attracted a lot of interest on social media. …
