Moyes Backed by Fans Who Say He Needs Financial Help; Only 19% Are Unhappy with Boss

SUNDERLAND fans have backed David Moyes but believe he was given insufficient funds last summer.

These are the latest findings from our Big SAFC Survey - with the overwhelming majority of those who voted showing their support for the Black Cats boss.

Moyes was appointed as Sam Allardyce's successor last July, signing a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

He had little time or money to reshape his squad - recruiting 10 new players, though many were free agents or loan deals.

He then presided over the worst-ever start to a Premier League season, while the Wearside outfit remain in a relegation zone they have inhabited for most of the campaign.

However, signs of progress began to become apparent in November, when back-to-back wins then three in four games and four in seven lifted the club to within a point of a position of safety.

Sunderland have also been impressively open about their financial situation.

And knowledge of the constraints that have been placed on Moyes allied with the onfield progress witnessed in recent months have seen a growing sense of patience with the 53-year-old Glaswegian. …
