A Time to Hibernate; Cosy Up Indoors When the Wild Weather Rages Outside

Article excerpt

NUGGLING up in at home is the way I like to spend my days during the coldest month of the year.

SIf I don't have to physically leave the house in January then I don't. And if I don't have to get dressed, then all the more reason to keep on the fluffy dressing gown and slippers I was so kindly bought for Christmas.

The way I see it is, I'm making sure that these gifts are getting the love and attention that they deserve. And if someone went to all the trouble of getting them for me, surely it's the height of good manners to make sure they are on me at all times? January is our time to hibernate. If only the country could run itself for a few weeks and carry on as normal while we all stayed in bed, or at the very least curled up in front of a fire watching box sets and eating biscuits!

Who wants to go 'dry' or 'clean' in the most miserable month of the year? Stage a sit-down protest, that's what I say. From the second you walk through your front door, having survived the worst that the weather and work can throw at you, get changed into your comfies and start hibernating.

We may not be able to do it all winter long, but if we can stretch out such behaviour for as long as possible then that is a perfectly acceptable second best for me.
