Beating the Flying Magpies Would Be the Stuff of Legends, Millers' New BOSSWARNE Tells His Players

PAUL Warne believes his Rotherham United players will go down as a "legends XI" if they can beat Newcastle United - comparing the gulf in size between the two clubs to that of Iceland vs England at Euro 2016.

Rafa Benitez's Magpies side are top of the table and have won 18 games this season, while the Millers are bottom of the table and nine points adrift of safety.

Though interim Rotherham boss Warne admits he feels "sick to the stomach" ahead of his side's trip to St James' Park tomorrow, he has challenged his players to raise their game and triumph against the "exceptional" Magpies.

He said: "Going to Newcastle seems an easy thing compared to the transfer window.

"I went up to watch them against Birmingham and I won't lie, they were very good.

"They only had four of their first team playing in it and they absolutely annihilated Birmingham, we were almost laughing at the end.

"I had a team meeting with the players and I said, 'I'm not going to lie to you, this is how good they are. They are exceptional.' "I've gone at it in a different way in recent weeks but our away record I believe is 24 out of 24 and their home record is No 1 (actually No 2).

"So I'm well aware of what it is but I'm not hiding behind anything. I'm just saying it is what it is.

"I'm saying this is what we need to do if we're going to cause problems, this is how I want us to defend, this is how we're going to score - and if you don't buy into it 100 per cent then you have no chance.

"We'll be more positive with the players over the next two days and show how good we are but I want them to be under no illusions it's going to be some game.

"We'll enjoy the challenge and see where it takes us.

"I said to the lads if they win they will go down as a legend XI. …
