A SIZZLING shot by Stewart Downing sealed victory and top marks after a low thrills, functional game that won't take up much space on the end of season DVD.

But it wasn't just the angled sweet spot strike that made Downing Boro's best, he had spent most of the game at the heart of all the creative play, dictating the direction and tempo with some deft touches and visionary passing.

Downing helped bring a promising display out of Patrick Bamford while lively Fabio also caught the eye as Boro struggled to impose themselves on spirited Stanley.

Dimi Konstantopoulos 6: Rarely troubled but alert, made a crucial first half block Fabio da Silva 7: Lively feet and link-up play, bright on the right Bernardo Espinosa 6: Solid, stayed alert to the rare breaks, good when Stanley launched it.

Ben Gibson 6: Tough tackles, read the game well, switched to left-back role calmly.
