Behrens Is Tipping His Eagles to Hit Back after Losses

CHRISTIAN Behrens has revealed the biggest threat to Newcastle Eagles - themselves.

The American is preparing to welcome former side Surrey Scorchers to Tyneside tonight as Fab Flournoy's team look to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

Behrens said: "Tomorrow is an important game for us to get back on track.

"After those two losses we've had an opportunity to regroup and deal with issues. If we do all the things we should do and clean up in the areas we've been working on then I feel we should handle business.

"Really I think our greatest battle is going to be against ourselves.

"We're a resilient group of guys and this is the first adversity we've faced this season but I believe we can get back out there and go on a roll."

Behrens arrived in Surrey in October 2015 after a brief spell in Austria and averaged 12.1ppg in 20 appearances in his rookie year.

This season has been quieter for the forward, playing just over 100 minutes for the Eagles.

He added: "It's all about adapting and finding a way to get better in every situation.

"Right now I'm growing here and I expect to be able to produce like that.

"My time in Surrey was good. It was my first professional job and it was a good environment in a good team and I made some good friends."

Behrens' first spell in the BBL ended early when he left to join Spanish side San Pablo Inmobiliaria Miraflores Burgos in February 2016.

The California-graduate made the Eagles his fourth professional club and he is enjoying life on Tyneside.

He said: "I've settled pretty nicely and I'm familiar with most of Newcastle now. It's starting to feel like home a little bit, so it feels nice.

"The weather is a lot worse here than in California, but I don't mind it too much because it's pretty similar to my hometown in Seattle, Washington. …
