Hotspot for Jams; Satnav Firm Reveals Town's Most Congested Road

A KEY route into Middlesbrough has been named as the town's most congested road.

Satnav firm TomTom has said the A1085 Longlands Road, near to Cargo Fleet Lane, is the town's worst traffic blackspot.

Motorists using the road, also known as the Trunk Road, near the busy Brambles Farm junction, are suffering the worst congestion in Middlesbrough, the firm says.

TomTom also revealed that the town was the 24th most congested in the UK with drivers spending an extra 3.75 days of their lives in traffic each year.

According to its annual traffic index, the busiest day on the roads last year in Middlesbrough was December 1. Motorists suffered heavy delays during the day after a serious crash on the A174 Parkway eastbound involving a cyclist, which closed the road during morning rush hour.

The results also revealed that drivers can expect a 41% increase in congestion level during evening peak periods and 37% in morning rush hour. …
