EARSDON Red Lion edged out Whitehouse Ashington 3-2 after extra time to reach round two of the Eric Anderson Cup.

Michael Freathy and Michael Grieves scored for the Whitehouse, Scott Purcell's brace and Mitchell Renney for the Lion.

In the quarter-finals, Cramlington Green put a poor season behind them with a 3-0 victory against Marden Residents.

Goals for the Green came from Jake Larmouth, Scott Lowery and Adam Kirkup.

The other quarter-final between North Shields Pineapple and Bedlington Breakers was abandoned after 10 minutes due to a serious injury, the Pineapple 1-0 up at the time.

Amble Tavern reached the final of the Alan Davison Cup after just overcoming Division One side High Street 5-4. Leading the scoring for the Tavern was Josh Hay with a hattrick, Liam Brookes and Sean Taylor adding the others.

On target for the Street were Adam Emmerson (2), Anthony Goldie and Chris Laidlaw.

The Tavern will meet Bedlington Social Club in the decider after Bedlington beat neighbours Bedlington Market Tavern 5-3 after extra time. …
