WHITLEY Tomahawks made the trip north of the border to play a challenge match against Solway Junior Sharks at Dumfries.

In Scotland the age groups for their leagues are under-12, 14, 16 and 18 as well as under-20 and the Dumfries based club played their under-16 squad against the under-15 Tomahawks.

It was not the best of starts for Whitley as they found themselves short-handed after just 94 seconds - and at 03.09 Solway made the extra man count when they took the lead through Lewis Houston.

Houston doubled the advantage before the Tomahawks had a chance to recover 13 seconds later.

Liam Stenton struck a brace in the next three minutes for a 5-0 lead after just seven minutes.

Callum Taylor opened the Tomahawks' account in the eleventh minute.

The visitors were looking to make further inroads into Solway's lead at the start of the second period - and within three minutes had succeeded when Alex Nergaard (pictured, on right) was on target. …
