Fitness Clubs for Carers among Projects in Lottery Funding Vote

LONDONERS were today urged to get behind five community projects that are in the running to scoop PS50,000 of National Lottery funding.

The public has until Monday to vote on which projects should be funded through The People's Projects grant scheme run by the National Lottery and The Big Lottery Fund. Five projects from the London region are in the running but only three can be successful. The three groups with the most votes will be awarded up to PS50,000. The five shortlisted projects are: Fit For Caring, run by the Kingston Carers' Network, wants to set up evening and weekend fitness sessions for carers in the borough, workshops on how to be healthier, and sessions on cooking and stress management.

The charity Haircuts4Homeless, based in Stanford-le-Hope, wants to recruit more trained stylists to provide 10,000 professional haircuts to homeless people a year.

Wood Green-based PramDepot on the Move aims to get high quality recycled baby clothes and buggies to vulnerable women. …
