Family 'Humbled' by Cancer Support

THE family of Mark Shannon say they are "overwhelmed" after PS11,000 was raised in eleven days to help his cancer battle.

But fundraising for the 52-year-old isn't over as he looks to beat the disease with the help of cannabis oil.

Donations and offers of support have flooded in for the Boro fan since his family spoke to The Gazette about his three year battle with bowel cancer.

His wife Ann-Marie said complete strangers have got in touch to see what they can do to help.

"It is all quite humbling" said the Linthorpe mum.

"You don't realise just how kind people can be until something like this happens."

"People we don't even know are sending money and donating."

But as Mark looks to make the next step in getting better, the fundraising is being stepped up.

Family friend Mary Gallagher is a fitness instructor from Middlesbrough who, after hearing about Mark's condition, decided to organise a charity Zumbathon. …
