YOUNG GUNS TO THE FORE; Easter Golf Tournament Attracts Northern Rivers' Best

SOME of the best young golfers on the Northern Rivers will battle it out in the annual Easter tournament at the Lismore Workers Golf Club tomorrow and Saturday.

Ballina teenager Jay Mackenzie is the defending champion while Isaac Outridge will be another one to watch after a string of good performances at Coolangatta-Tweed Heads.

About 460 golfers will take part in the tournament, which incorporates the Northern Rivers District Championships.

"It worked a treat having it as part of the Northern Rivers championships last year," Lismore Workers Golf Club professional Peter Jaeger said.

"It's an open competition but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the young blokes win it again.

"A great part of this tournament is seeing some of these guys in the early stages of their career before they go on to bigger things.

"A visitor from outside the area could always win it and Matt Crandell has been here many times and will be hard to beat. …
