OFF ROAD RACING: Australia's elite off road racers will converge in Mildura next weekend, for the ARB Sunraysia 400 - the second round of the Australian off road series.

Drivers and team members will travel from all over the state to test their skills on the challenging 100km loop track, including some of Mackay's own.

The four man Mackay-Burkedin team, made up of Chris Colborne (navigator), Michael Marson (driver), Brock Sievers (pit crew) and Chris Laity (pit crew) have been working together for several years and said they are hoping to achieve a podium spot in the upcoming round.

According to Colborne, the event attracts the highest calibre of racers to compete however all are welcome to join in and test their ability.

"We just completed the first round, we didn't do too well there but hoping in Mildura we can recover and get a better result," he said.

"It's a six round series, we've done pretty well in the past, in the first series we were coming second all year and ended up fourth, last year 11th and we've been fifth before so this year we're trying to get that or better again. …
