THE NSW Four-Cylinder Sedan Championship at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway on Saturday night promises to be one of the most keenly contested events in recent years.

A number of the 25 drivers who have entered can rightly stake a claim for NSW honours.

The defending champion is Lismore's Trent Dhu, who won the title at the Cullen Bullen Speedway last season.

However, a number of Lismore regulars including Luke Watt, Brock Armstrong, Gerry Flood, Brodie King and Matthew Laydon cannot be overlooked.

It sets the scene for what promoter David Lander expects will be a hard-fought state championship.

"The competition will be tough and there are plenty of evenly matched drivers with equally fast cars in the entries," Lander said.

"It should produce some terrific racing as the drivers battle their way into the title final."

The sentimental favourite is disabled competitor Luke Watt, who has not let his physical handicap stop him becoming one of the best drivers in the four-cylinder sedan category. …
