BULLETS ON FIRE; Bargara Claims Title after Three Years as Runner-Up

SOFTBALL: The long and painful drought is finally over for the Bargara Bullets.

After three consecutive years of grand final losses, the Bullets had their day on Saturday, recording a 15-5 win over North Bundaberg.

Leading from start to finish the side was never troubled.

They won after a dominant first innings and then claimed mercy to secure the A-Grade title.

"We're really, really pleased," Bargara player and club president Gemma Bush said.

"We knew it was going to be tough with even contests between the two this season."

But the side didn't celebrate until they knew they had the game won.

"We kept it pretty quiet in the final innings," Bush said.

"Some of us knew we only needed one run to call mercy but we made sure we didn't tell the team."

Bush said the win was set up by their fielding and pitching.

"Alana Gear, our pitcher, had a solid game," she said.

"Our fielding side only made one error as well all day. …
