Plunge workshop

Adam will be teaching students in the Grafton workshop how to write music for the screen and the differences between commercial, drama and factual content, how to respond to a brief and what's involved in the creative process. He will also share his own personal journey to composing and how to deal with the business side of things.

Adam is looking forward to hearing from Clarence musicians and composers on their process and work style as they explore new possibilities. Join him at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium from 10am-1pm on Thursday.

YOU might not recognise the name Adam Gock, but you would know his music, especially if you were a viewer of 'reality' television.

His compositions can be heard on The Apprentice, Beauty and the Geek, The Biggest Loser, Googlebox, Sharktank, The Farmer Wants A Wife, Ten News theme and a multitude of commercials for Australian and international brands like Qantas and Virgin. Perhaps, the most famous of his repertoire is his work on the Masterchef franchise, his signature sounds aired across the globe and winning him and his business partner Dinesh Wicks an ACCA Award.

Music runs in Gock's family, his father Les is a member of the Australian 70s glam band Hush, but Adam has gone on to forge a remarkable career in his own right as a music and sound designer.

Adam will bring his skills and secrets to carving out a successful career in this niche industry as special guest at a Screen Composing Masterclass in Grafton on Thursday. This course will demonstrate to musicians how to write music specifically as a visual accompaniment.

Adam said trying to convey an emotion through music was one aspect to it. …
