Grim Prognosis for CBD Church; Workers Began Demolishing Pharmacy

DEMOLITION has begun on one of Bundaberg's most recognisable historical.

The Church Pharmacy was ripped apart by fire on April 6 and the damage was too severe to save the structure.

Lammi Brothers House Removals started to pull the building apart on Saturday and are looking to have a clear site by the end of Monday afternoon.

They are encouraging people to come down and take photos of the historic event as it unfolds.

Lammi Brothers office co-ordinator Cameron McDonnell said traffic wouldn't be disrupted as most of the work would be done during quiet times.

"We will be in there before business times," he said.

"There will be safety fencing up and people can view it from a distance."

Mr McDonnell said it would take five employees to clear the entire building by the end of today and the roof was the first part to go.

He said excavators, sledgehammers and jackhammers would be used to break the building down in to pieces, which would then be carted away. …
