MITCH Marsh could play in India as a frontline paceman, but the former Aussie No.6 says he now knows how to get the runs that never came before he was dumped from the Test team.

The West Australian will go to India as a bowling all-rounder likely to bat deep in the order, and he could even be one of only two quicks picked should conditions dictate the need for a side loaded with spinners.

Marsh was axed after the Aussies were demolished by South Africa in Hobart after mediocre returns batting at six.

He was then overlooked for a recall during the series against Pakistan when selectors opted for Hilton Cartwright, who didn't even make the 16-man squad for India, with Marsh's bowling seen as superior by selectors.

Marsh said he had been bowling at "Test level" for Western Australia and also in the Big Bash since he was dropped, and his confidence in that area had never wavered. …
