AS WE enter a New Year, we have compiled a list of all the exciting projects beginning and expected to be completed in 2017.

Gallery Apartments

BY THE end of 2017, a new high-rise will have joined the Rockhampton skyline.

Earthworks began on the $20million 10-storey residential apartment building on Victoria Pde in November.

Once completed, the building will also include a restaurant.

Heritage Hotel

FOR over a year Heritage Hotel in William St, Rockhampton, has been closed.

But 2017 holds a new beginning for the Heritage Hotel with major renovation and restoration works begun.

The venue is expected to open within months.

Kershaw Gardens

A MASTER plan has been prepared to guide the long-term redevelopment of the popular Kershaw Gardens post Cyclone Marcia.

The $14million development plan for the Central Precinct was approved by Rockhampton Regional Council and major work is this year expected to start on various aspects of the plan including shaded seating areas, barbecues, a nature play area, a maze and the relocation of the monorail. A highlight of the playground is a shallow water play area.

Construction will require the central section to be closed for 12 months from April.

Rockhampton Riverbank

OVER the past year the Rockhampton Riverbank has had major changes and the next 12 months promises to be no different.

Late last year, Stage 1A of the project was completed and work began on stage 1B, the section of Quay St between William and Denham Sts.

Rockhampton Regional Council announced Woollam Constructions as the successful tenderer for the $11million central precinct of stage two of the project.

Work on the central precinct, which includes a new pier and restaurant, water jet plaza, Rod Laver plaza, landscaping, event infrastructure, curated public art and shaded seating with water misters, will start this month and finish by the end of the year.

Skyview Apartments

VICTORIA Parade will continue to evolve in 2017 with construction of residential apartment building Skyview expected to begin soon. …
