CRICKET: It was a mixed bag for our junior cricketers at various state championships throughout Queensland.

There were some narrow defeats, big losses and three wins yesterday.

The first of the wins was Central Queensland's under-15 side, in which Gladstone's Bryson Hardwick, Josh Lait, Zane Robertson and Nick Holmes play for.

CQ chased down Sunshine Coast's 1-156 with four wickets to spare in an entertaining match in Bundaberg.

Nick was the pick of the Gladstone bowlers with 0-17 from four overs while Bryson made 12 in the run chase.

CQ then had to back up against Far North who batted first, making 7-227.

Zane took 2-27 off his 10 overs and then contributed 15 runs as CQ finished 19 runs short at 11-208.

Josh made 28 runs.

The CQ U16 side enjoyed a 30-run win against Gold Coast in Mackay with Harrison Rideout the star with the ball.

He took 3-19 off seven overs to help bowl out the southerners for 154. His Gladstone teammate Col Crawford took 1-22 from his seven overs, which included a maiden. …
