Reef Success; Overnight Reef Trip Pays off with Some Top Fish Landed

IT MAY have been Hayley Pace's first trip to Credlin Reef, but looking at her esky you would think she'd fished there for years.

Hayley ventured out with her partner Phillip Davey and a mate from out of town, on February 19 for an overnight trip to the reef just off Mackay.

"The boys go on few trips and then they basically take me to stop me whinging," Hayley said.

"If I don't pull my weight I'm not allowed to come on the next trip - but I got pretty good credit for this trip," she said.

Jokes aside, Hayley is an avid angler and has been fishing for as long as she can remember with her father.

She said she had learnt a pretty vital lesson early on, fishing with him.

"There's no mucking around when you're on the boat, you've got to have your line in the water - my father drilled that into me a long time ago," she said.

Unfortunately, she didn't show up the boys in quantity, however, the quality of the fish caught is what really counts. …
