TRIATHLON: A new and exciting triathlon event is launching globally from Hamilton Island this March, and its catalogue of stars will set the sporting world alight.

Super League Triathlon has been unveiled as the future of triathlon with huge prize money, superstar fields and action-packed racing formats that provide pulse-pounding action and an unparalleled spectator experience and the very first showing will be on Hamilton Island.

Headlining the field are the world's best triathletes including two-time Olympic gold medallist Alistair Brownlee (GBR), dual Olympic medallist Jonathan Brownlee (GBR), five-time ITU Triathlon World Champion Javier Gomez Noya (ESP) and reigning ITU Triathlon World Champion Mario Mola (ESP).

Three races over three days over three different formats will see the elite field of 25 contracted athletes battle it out with all races being broadcast live on television both here in Australia and live into Europe. The racing will be frenetic and action-packed and don't think for a second that it's all happy families among the athletes; there's personal rivalries, rivalries between ITU and long-course athletes and of course those between nationalities, so throw them in a confined space with the personality clashes and intensity of a closed league, big prize money series and it's sure to be a spectator's dream.

Alistair Brownlee knows he will have a target on his back at Super League Hamilton Island, but has a warning for those who lay claim to the title.

"Super League Triathlon will be exciting, dynamic racing and great viewing for all sports fans. There's a bit of chatter from the younger guys about the heat, the shorter distances, and a few of them fancy themselves for the win. While the formats are new and innovative, they've still got to swim, bike and run and they have to remember that their weaknesses will still be highlighted. …
