Power Plays of Legends; Past Winners among the Top Chances

WHEN talented golfers Tod Power and Peter Senior each play down their form, you know it's going to be a cracker tournament.

The pair, who teed off together in the Australian Legends Tour Championship at Byron Bay Golf Club yesterday, may have been talking down their chances of taking out the silverware at the 10th anniversary of the event on the Northern Rivers.

But there's no doubt defending champion Power, 52, and Senior, 57, who last won in 2012, have the goods to win.

Power shook his head during his warm-up. He said he did not feel he was at his best for the event, which comprises the first two days in a pro-am format and a final day when the professionals are joined by a handful of scratch handicap amateurs.

"I reckon I have a 70-1 chance of winning," Power said with a self- depreciating smile.

"I'm playing with Peter Senior and I'm a little nervous."

Senior, who has been a professional for 39 years, said he still loved playing - and he denied any suggestion of full-time retirement. …
