School Can Wait as Supercars Career Begins for Teenager

HE MAY be juggling the demands of Year 12 with the pressures of being a full-time Supercars driver, but if you ask Alex Rullo where his priorities lie the teenager doesn't even flinch.

Rullo values what school has to offer but has no reservations about embracing the chance Supercars has thrown him.

"Supercars is a bigger opportunity so I'm putting all my effort into that. As soon as something Supercars-related comes up it's schoolwork aside," he admits.

The 16-year-old will become the youngest ever Supercars driver when he lines up on the grid at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

At the tender age of 16 years, eight months and 17 days, the young gun will shatter the previous record - held by Paul Dumbrell since 1999 - by 79 days.

Perhaps fittingly, Rullo will race the 2017 Supercars season under the banner of Paul's brother's team, Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.

Rullo knows he's up against some of Australian motorsport's royalty and he has one goal: be competitive. …
