FOOTBALL: With just weeks until the start of a new season, the Ipswich Knights have secured some important signings.

Among the exciting prospects for the club's 2017 Brisbane Premier League campaign are newcomers Declan Murphy, Tarig Hammond, Adjen Salihovik and Jason Pillay.

Co-coaches Danny Wilson and Graham Ross have been working with a squad of more than 30 for a month.

The Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday sessions have focused on conditioning and building a solid foundation for their professional new approach.

"We're changing the style of play,'' Wilson said.

"We're instilling the right instincts in our team so we want to have a different structure to how we play.''

Wilson said the new signings added energy, confidence and special attributes to the core of dependable Knights players returning for another year.

Murphy is a goalkeeper with BPL experience playing for Lions.

"He's a good young kid who has been on the radar for a few years in Brisbane Premier League now,'' Wilson said.

"We're giving him an opportunity to try to work hard and knuckle down the number one spot.

"Both Rossie and I can see things in him that we like. He's a good communicator, good shot stopper.

"He's been exposed to the right culture (at Lions) so we've been able to tap into that.''

Hammond is an attacking player who could provide much needed finishing off prowess.

"He's been looking for an opportunity to establish himself,'' Wilson said. "He was first-team player at Lions as well.

"He has got a great attitude. After every single session, he's always asking Rossie and I what extras he needs to be able to do to complement his game.

"He's got extremely fast feet so we're definitely looking at him to be able to step up and knock in those 10 plus goals for us. …
