CRICKET: It's no surprise Shaun Tait won't be in the Hobart Hurricanes' line-up to face the Melbourne Renegades in their Big Bash League clash at Etihad Stadium tonight.

Hurricanes skipper Tim Paine has put the big fast bowler's omission down to an elbow injury, but the man once considered the most feared bowler in world cricket is at the crossroads.

Having leaked 32 runs from just two overs in the loss to the Sydney Thunder on Sunday, the 33-year-old has the worst economy rate in BBL06 - a startling 12.5 runs an over.

"He has obviously been a bit sore in his elbow and the ball hasn't been coming out as he would like and as we would like," Paine said.

"We know he is quality when he is fit and firing - we just need to make sure he is next time we play him.

"Taity is someone who needs to bowl a lot and get himself a bit of rhythm and he just had the last week where he couldn't bowl because his elbow was badly swollen and he was in a bit of pain. …
