MICHAEL Gay throws out an answer moments after the question is finished.

"One better than last year," he says.

The Bay Power coach's vision for 2017 is crystal clear: he wants to lead his side to a premiership.

The Power shocked most judges when they stormed to an unlikely AFL Wide Bay grand final.

They were always going to finish in the top three, but their dream almost crumbled in the preliminary final against cross-town rivals Hervey Bay Bombers.

They went into the main break facing an impossible lead to overturn, but the Power somehow found the strength to turn the 30-point deficit into a dominant 27-point win.

Gay's plan, simply put, is to produce that second half performance on a weekly basis, and to turn the grand final loss to The Waves into an inaugural flag.

"We're looking pretty good at the moment. The newer guys are fitting in well and some of the kids coming through are getting to the know the ropes, and each other," Gay said. …
