Teen Spat on Victim of Assault; Pensioner Bashed, Spat On

A TEENAGE woman had spat in the face of a disability pensioner who had just been bashed by her boyfriend, Toowoomba Magistrates Court has heard.

Jameka Lea Gaffney had been driving out of a Jellicoe St residence about 11.30am, November 3, as the 51-year-old man walked by on the footpath.

Her boyfriend alighted from the car and shouted at the victim "I'm going to kill you ****", the court heard.

Her boyfriend had then allegedly punched the man to the head and chest, knocking him to the ground after which he kicked him a number of times to the legs and body.

Gaffney had called the man "you bastard" before spitting in his face.

A woman driving past had pulled over to help the victim who was spitting blood.

He had fallen in and out of consciousness as he was driven home by a member of the public and fell into the arms of his carer before being taken to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises, the court heard. …
