GHOST IN THE SHELL

"Blade Runner" meets "Ex Machina" meets "The Matrix." This is a cult favorite comic book, then animated film, now live-action movie with Scarlett Johansson as a cybernetic human heroine tasked with stopping cyber-terrorists. I can only assume that there were many pharmaceuticals ingested in the making of the movie, and reality takes a real beating. The eye-candy on the screen is fun, but the story and the Major (Johansson) aren't all that engaging.

LOGAN

For X-Men/Marvel fans, this Wolverine finale is a welcome blend of action and character development. Hugh Jackman meets both his daughter, the unstoppable Laura, and his twin brother, his equally unstoppable nemesis. Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, is an old man, filled with vim, vigor and wisdom. But if you're not a fan of superhero movies this one may leave you wondering about plot holes and unexplained backstory. Lots of action and good acting make this a moderately enjoyable film. …
