Teams Back on the Court; Player Spots Still Open in Basketball

BASKETBALL: Eight teams are playing in the first semester Warwick basketball season.

Fixtures are being run by WIRAC in partnership with the Warwick Basketball Association.

All games are played on Wednesdays at 6pm and 7pm on the two courts at WIRAC.

In the gold competition, WIRAC All-Stars, Dragon Slayer, HBD and Warwick High are the teams.

The 23s, Top Deck, The Lads and Lehi's Lakers are the silver competition teams.

The teams in the gold competition are predominately men with men and women playing in silver.

The 23s is an all women's team organised by Justine Woodbridge. The silver season started later than the gold but finals will be at the same time.

Alex Cutmore is the main organiser from WIRAC and said there were openings for more players and teams.

"Come down to WIRAC and speak to staff at reception to nominate as individuals or nominate a full team," he said.

"We will definitely add an extra team if one comes forward and there are spots available for extra players in the current teams. …
