HAVING honeymooned in the area, Ron and Judith Monumnent were drawn back to a vibrant North Tyne village when they were searching for their dream home 35 years ago.

The four-bedroomed stone-built and detached home, together with boarding kennels and cattery business, lies within a picturesque semi-rural location with beautiful views and lends itself to a range of opportunities for a new buyer.

"We were looking for a kennels and cattery business for me when we spotted this place, so we didn't know Gunnerton at all, or the area, although 50 years ago we spent our honeymoon at the George Hotel, in Chollerford which is just along the road - so it was meant to be," explained Judith.

"The house was originally a working sawmill. The railway track ran along the back of us and is now a lovely walk with the dogs.

"The building is about 250-years-old. When we bought it the downstairs was one big area and was used as a workshop by the previous owners. We lived upstairs in a flat with our three young daughters."

Characterful and versatile accommodation retains many original features and includes a light and spacious reception hall with exposed stone and Amtico flooring, cloakroom, sitting room with double French doors, beamed ceiling and arched fireplace, breakfasting kitchen with French doors leading out to a garden terrace and utility.

To the first floor are four bedrooms, two of which feature en suites, a family bathroom and a library/snug with stone steps leading down to a garden and stairs up to an attic, where there are a further three rooms including an office/study and two attic rooms.
