Where Is Our City's Water Park? Toowoomba Residents Won't Give Up Dream of Amusement Facility

ALTHOUGH temperatures can plummet into the negatives during the winter months, Toowoomba residents aren't ready to give up on their dream of a water park.

Every time The Chronicle asks its readers what Toowoomba needs, the most popular answer is a water park, followed closely by an Ikea, Costco and David Jones.

Now, it has been announced that a two-storey pontoon will be set up on the Great Barrier Reef offering the first theme park-quality slide into the waters.

Sunlover Reef Cruises is preparing to transport its new pontoon out to Moore Reef as part of the company's $4 million investment in new and refurbished marine infrastructure.

The large steel structure features two large decks for passengers and crew, plenty of seating and shade and a theme park-style waterslide.

It follows the news that Ipswich will receive some form of water park as part of its massive inner-city revitalisation project. …
