VINNIE Jones has revealed the inside story of his brush with Paul Gascoigne - which produced the infamous picture of the pair getting a bit too close for comfort.

Jones was playing for Wimbledon when he was given the job of marking Gascoigne, who was making a big name for himself in black and white.

He told Sky's Goals on Sunday he had not wanted to accept the job Don Howe handed to him - and walked out of the training ground when told to do it.

Jones said: "When I marked Gascoigne, he pulled me to one side and said 'Don't listen to all the headlines', that's one of the best man-to-man marking jobs I've ever seen.

"I had a right row with Bobby Gould before the game. I said 'Get out of it'. I didn't want to run round after that fella. I went into the dressing room fed up. I said 'I'm not marking him'. …
