KARTING: Locals Brody Sonter and Olivia Bell are in red-hot form heading into the Rockhampton Formula K-Kart Club's Reef 'n' Beef title meeting on Sunday.

Club secretary Judy Simonds said the event would serve as a lead-in meeting for the CQ Series being run on June 3 and 4.

"Sunday's meeting is set to run in the clockwise direction, the same as the CQ Series, with the format of racing also the same with qualifying, two heats of 10 laps, one heat of 13 laps and a final of 16 laps," she said.

"The only difference is the Reef 'n' Beef title round will be contested over one day, rather than two, with practice starting at 7.30am and qualifying from 9.30am."

Simonds is expecting about 30 karts for Sunday's meeting, with a large number of regional competitors and one driver coming from as far away as Cairns.

She said Sonter (KA4 Junior Light) and Bell (TAG 125 Heavy) were "on fire", both having finished first in their respective classes at the Gladstone Kart Club's Spirit of the Anzac meeting. …
