IF YOU had said 25 years ago that London would become one of the world's leading food destinations, not many people would have believed you. Now, you just need to walk through any part of our city from Borough Market to Brick Lane and you will find some of the world's best places to eat with flavours inspired from around the world.

Credit should go to the Evening Standard for staging the highly anticipated London Food Month and for promoting the extraordinary variety and brilliance of our city's cuisine.

This will really help to cement London's reputation as one of the great culinary capitals of the world.

It's also excellent that as well as a celebration, London Food Month will promote awareness of food waste and encourage the industry to donate surplus food to charity in order to help some of London's most vulnerable people.

We have thousands of incredible restaurants in London from top Michelin-star eateries to local cafes as well as a huge variety of interesting and exotic ingredients available at markets, shops and stalls throughout our city. …
