Cap Coast Keen to Extend Unbeaten Run

FOOTBALL: Capricorn Coast will look to extend its unbeaten run in the Premier League when it tackles Southside United at Jardine Park tonight.

The Coast moved into second place on the competition ladder with its last gasp 3-2 victory over reigning premiers Frenchville last weekend.

Chatmongkow Mekwan got the Coast on the scoreboard nine minutes into the game before Frenchville levelled it up by half-time and then took a 2-1 lead early in the second.

Enter Flynn Berry, who came on for the Coast in the 76th minute and scored immediately to level the scores.

Timothy Parker then netted the decider after a goal-mouth scramble in the 90th minute to give the Coast the three competition points.

Coast coach Josh McLennan said it was a satisfying victory for his side which is becoming accustomed to grinding out some tough wins.

"There have been a few games where we had to fight hard to get the win, either coming from behind or holding onto an early lead," he said. …
