Wright into the Record Books; Former Lennox Head Surfer Wins Rio Pro for Third Time

FORMER Lennox Head surfer Tyler Wright has entered the record books after winning the Rio Women's Pro for a third time.

It was her first win of the season after winning five events last year in claiming a maiden world title.

She has won back-to-back titles in Rio and shares the trifecta with Pauline Menczer after first winning it in 2013.

Wright is now joint leader alongside six-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore and was chaired up the beach by elder brother Owen Wright and Byron Bay surfer Matt Wilkinson.

"It has always been a part of my plan after the Australian leg to be in this position," Wright said. "I am feeling really good. It is cool to be working on stuff over the last year and put it into action.

"This has been a good week.

"The crew is absolutely amazing here at the moment. I have my brother Owen, Matt (Wilkinson), Laura (Enever), Fletchy (Ryan Fletcher) and Mick (Fanning). …
