Managers Leave Pub after Zero Star Rating

A POPULAR Norton pub has been hit with a zero-star food hygiene rating.

Inspectors gave the rating to the Head of Steam after a visit in March.

The Food Standard's Agency said the venue wasn't clean enough and a "major improvement" was needed in terms of food hygiene.

Bosses at the Harland Place venue claim another inspection is already booked in, adding: "(We) expect to regain our five-star rating in the next couple of weeks."

Staff - including the venue's general manager - left after the damning report.

The venue opened a week before Christmas 2015, and claims to offer a "fantastic selection" of craft beers, ales and ciders. The food menu lists items like parmos and burgers.

Previously it had received a glowing five-star review but an Environmental Health officer gave the zero rating score following an inspection on March 24.

"We took the decision to voluntarily close the kitchen at our venue in order to implement the issues highlighted to us in their report," said a spokesperson. …
