Amanda N. Burt, 37, was charged with aggravated child abuse and booked Wednesday into the Duval County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Officers were notified of a possible child abuse case April 25 after the child was taken to Wolfson Children's Hospital, according to an arrest report. The boy had two broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, bruising on his chin and a cut near his right eye.

During an interview with police, Burt could not explain how the fractures happened, according to the report. She chalked up the bruises to him resting on a pacifier, the report said, and the cut to a mishap that occurred while a sibling was jumping on the bed.

A medical report provided by the Child Protection Team indicated the boy's injuries were consistent with child abuse. Burt was interviewed again by police Wednesday, and she was taken into custody. What was said during that interview was blacked out from the arrest report.
