Cowboys and Titans Forced into Reshuffle

COWBOYS coach Paul Green has backed centre Javid Bowen to again seize his opportunity after Queensland Origin centre Justin O'Neill was ruled out of tonight's home clash with the Gold Coast through concussion.

But it remains to be seen whether Bowen will be given the job of shutting down the Titans' human headline Jarryd Hayne, who is brimming with confidence after his star showing for New South Wales in OriginI.

O'Neill was set to renew his Origin match-up with Hayne but Bowen and regular left centre Kane Linnett switched sides when the Cowboys beat the Titans in round four, a game O'Neill also missed through injury.

"It (injuries in Origin) are part of playing footy this time of year, you always have that risk when you've got guys involved," Cowboys coach Paul Green said.

"Javid will come in and played against them last time, I'm confident he'll do a good job."

There remains a chance Hayne could spend time at fullback, with Gold Coast hooker Nathan Peats likely to also miss after suffering a severe cork in his quad in his impressive Origin debut for the Blues. Tyrone Roberts has excelled in the No.1 jersey but could spend time at dummy half alongside second-choice hooker Karl Lawton.

"If Peatsy's not playing - and it's looking likely that he won't play - then we're going to miss him," Titans coach Neil Henry said.

"He does a lot of work in the middle, he was tremendous in Origin and we're going to miss that component.

"But Lawto would be up for the challenge. He's worked really hard, he's been solid defensively in the middle as well and he's got a bit of speed out of dummy half."

The match presents a huge opportunity for Cowboys back-rower Coen Hess and Titans prop Jarrod Wallace to further press for a Queensland debut after the Maroons forwards were dominated in Wednesday's 28-4 defeat. …
