North TV Star Whately Adds Voice to Kynren

A familiar voice has been added to the soundscape of Kynren - that of North East actor Kevin Whately.

Hexham-born Kevin, famous for his roles in Auf Weidersehen, Pet, Inspector Morse and its successful spin-off, Lewis, has provided the voice of Old Arthur. During the opening scene of the outdoor spectacular - reimagined for its 2017 second season, according to production company Eleven Arches - Old Arthur will set the scene for the epic journey through 2,000 years of British history, myth and legend.

Kevin Whately visited the set at the weekend during a full rehearsal of the show and addressed the 1,500-strong cast and crew, bravely risking the possibility of being upstaged by sheep, geese and knights in shining armour.

Anne-Isabelle Daulon, chief executive of Eleven Arches, said: "We are absolutely thrilled that Kevin has agreed to be the voice of a central Kynren character."

The premiere of this year's manifestation of Kynren - An Epic Tale of England is on July 1 at 9. …
