The Mayor Gets in Perfect Touch with the Leaders

NRL: Mayor Matt Burnett's leapt into the Gladstone Observer NRL Footy Tipping calculations with a perfect eight from eight.

The perfect score meant that he gets two extra points and is just six shy of the leaders Alex Staines and Julia Madden.

Burnett said two of his tips were somewhat akin to throwing a dart with a blindfold on.

"(I was) just lucky I guess and I was pretty confident for six wins, but the last two were a bit of a guess," Burnett said.

It was a spectacular jump in just one week.

Burnett was in seventh place in round 13 on 60 points, but now he is on equal points with Annika Swann.

It's not a bad effort from a man who has a busy schedule, but he always find the time to follow his beloved Canterbury Bulldogs.

"When I have time I will check who is playing, but generally I base my decision on how each team played the week or two before," Burnett said. …
